M/V South - Plate Heat Exchanger Service

BreezeMarine Group specialists in Tallinn completed servicing of the main low-temperature central cooler — a GEA VT-80 B6 plate heat exchanger — aboard the vessel SOUTH.

Challenge

The main LT central cooler is a critical component of the vessel’s cooling system, and its gaskets were due for renewal. With the ship in port for a limited window, the plate pack needed to be fully disassembled, all 212 plates re-gasketed, and the unit rebuilt to the exact original compression dimension — with no room for error on sealing or schedule.

Engineering Solution

  1. Disassembled the GEA VT-80 B6 plate pack on site
  2. Replaced gaskets on all 212 plates
  3. Reassembled the unit to the required tightening dimension
  4. Pressure-tested the assembled heat exchanger for leak-tightness
  5. Handed over the tested unit to the crew within 2 working days
