Marine Refrigeration Systems

BreezeMarine Group draws on two manufacturing partners to cover the full scope of marine refrigeration: PSYCTOTHERM, a Greek manufacturer of marine refrigeration and air conditioning equipment since 1969, for complete provision plant systems, air coolers and compressor conversion services; and FARAD S.A., our heat exchanger partner since 1979, for the core refrigerant components — DX evaporators, condensers and compressor coolers — used inside those systems.

Refrigeration Solutions for Every Application

Provision Plants

Complete condensing unit, evaporator, panel and fan coil packages for fresh or frozen stores.

Air Coolers

Cold room air coolers with cold room doors and optional anti-corrosion coating.

Refrigerated Compressed Air Dryers

Moisture protection for pneumatic control and starting air systems.

Spot Coolers

Portable cooling for localized hot spots or temporary duty.

DX Evaporators

Direct expansion refrigerant evaporators, 20–1,200 kW, for chilled water down to 0°C.

FC Condensers

Refrigerant condensers rejecting heat into seawater or freshwater, 14–1,450 kW.

Compressor Coolers

Oil coolers for refrigeration and A/C compressors.

Provision Plants

Available as a complete provision plant equipment package or as individual components, for fresh or frozen product preservation.

  • Marine-type condensing units
  • Air coolers for fresh or frozen product preservation
  • Expansion valve panel for 3–4 rooms
  • Electric control panel
  • Fan coils

Air Coolers

Cold room air coolers built for marine duty.

  • Custom dimensions upon request
  • Cold room doors
  • Optional anti-corrosion coating
  • Low-noise plug fans
  • AC or EC motors; frequency 50/60 Hz
  • Fast lead times

Refrigerated Compressed Air Dryers

Moisture protection for pneumatic control and starting air systems.

  • Compact dimensions, floor mounted, fully portable
  • High-temperature operation via tropical condenser
  • 100–300 m³/hr airflow range
  • Low-noise plug fans
  • AC or EC motors; frequency 50/60 Hz

Spot Coolers

Portable cooling for localized hot spots or temporary duty.

  • Portable design, compact dimensions
  • Reduced power consumption via energy-saving design
  • High-temperature operation via tropical condenser
  • Available with free air flow or customized connections
  • Low-noise plug fans
  • AC or EC motors; frequency 50/60 Hz

DX Evaporators

Direct expansion refrigerant evaporators are part of every refrigeration system, handling HFC and HCFC refrigerants — refrigerant flows in the tubes, water in the shell.

  • Standard capacity 20 kW to 1,200 kW; larger capacity on request
  • Up to three compressors connectable to one evaporator
  • Suitable for chilled water systems down to 0°C, including marine and industrial HVAC
  • Seamless drawn high-performance copper (DHP-Cu) tubes with inner grooves for heat transfer
  • Materials sourced from reputable EU manufacturers, thickness above design code

FC Condensers

Used in refrigeration systems that reject heat into seawater or freshwater — refrigerant flows in the shell, water in the tubes. Suited to shipboard HVAC where the cooling medium is seawater.

  • Model range: 14 kW to 1,450 kW condensing duty
  • Enhanced tube: external fins, internal grooves for maximum heat transfer efficiency

Compressor Coolers

Oil coolers for refrigeration and A/C compressors, designed and manufactured in-house using heat exchanger software sized to the customer’s specification.

  • Tubes in copper nickel 90/10 or stainless steel
  • Shells in carbon steel or stainless steel, depending on working environment
  • Fins in copper, copper-clad, or aluminum with tin, 0.20 mm thickness
  • Compact footprint, simple installation, easy maintenance
  • Temperature and pressure gauges

Compressor Replacement & Conversion

Several widely-used refrigeration compressor types carry real operating drawbacks. Our service team evaluates the most suitable replacement for each case.

Refrigerant Conversion

We convert existing systems to compliant, eco-friendly refrigerants with low GWP and zero ODP, meeting the latest environmental regulations and helping vessels reduce their carbon footprint. Our team handles the entire transition — efficiently and seamlessly.

Common Issues by Compressor Type

  • Sabroe SMC — very expensive spare parts and long delivery times; reconditioned units on the market are often repaired with aftermarket parts of questionable quality
  • Bock FX — frequently damaged by liquid flood-backs
  • GEA Grasso — discontinued models; only spare parts remain available
  • Mitsubishi FA — difficult to source, long lead times, expensive

Our Recommended Replacements

  • Dorin — reciprocating compressor manufacturer, Italy
  • Hanbell — screw compressor manufacturer, Taiwan: simple, robust design with high reliability, low vibration and noise; reduced cost; increased durability to flood-backs compared with piston compressors; fewer maintenance requirements

Refrigeration Services
