DFDS Sirena Seaways – HVAC Diagnostics & Refrigerant Recharge

The onboard air conditioning system on the ferry Sirena Seaways was running low on refrigerant. BreezeMarine Group traced the shortfall across the cooling units, piping, air handling units and evaporators, then recharged the system with 142 kg of R407F to restore stable operation.

Challenge

An initial inspection of the vessel’s air conditioning system revealed a significant refrigerant shortage. With several possible leak sources — compressors, piping, air handling units and evaporators — the system needed a full diagnostic sweep before it could be safely recharged.

Engineering Solution

  1. Carried out an initial inspection and confirmed a substantial refrigerant deficit
  2. Checked the refrigeration units for leaks
  3. Inspected the piping network for leak points
  4. Checked the air handling units for leaks
  5. Inspected the evaporators for leaks
  6. Recharged the system with 142 kg of R407F refrigerant
